Fantasy WLK Talent Trees

Everyone else is making them ^^

http://talents.utimer.ppvh.eu/?p=vt&i=37807

Check it out if you're bored. =p

I changed a ton of stuff around and in no way are these "realistic" hopes for what I'd like to see in WLK. I think my problem with lots of the other WotLK talent trees I see on the forums is that they really still only lead to the 0/51/x (you can switch around which is the 51) type of specs. This is inevitable when you have extremely powerful 51 point talents while keeping the other talents in the tree mostly unchanged -- you can avoid this by simply making the 51 point talents lackluster, or you can simple buff every single other talent into ridiculous OPness. (my route)

Blue described the 11-21-31-etc. talents as "gold medal" talents at Blizzcon, but there have also almost always been "silver medal" talents occasionally at various points as well such as Imp CS. I moved a bunch of things around and added a lot more "silver medal" talents. (mind rot, shiver, etc)

I had a list of other changes to go along with these, but really I'm not sure they're necessary.

Anyways, I guess it's pointless to write too much about such silliness, so mess around if you're bored. ^^

Would You Like Please Like Unleash the Fury?

So I, like many other curious men, decided to download and experiment (just once just to see if I like it) with Fury. When I learned I could make my character look like a gay, blond Aladdin, I couldn't wait to explore more of this whole new world of shining, shimmering, splendor. Now, I've never played an MMO previous to WoW (frankly I'm too baller), so I don't know how much of WoW's UI and Interface is original and how much is bitten from previous genre games -- however, the interface in Fury is near identical to WoW. If you're looking to combine the WoW UI with creepy dreams of nailing the Prince of Persia, you won't be disappointed or alone; minutes after loading out of the training mode I was surrounded by a harem of androgynous Arab looking boys ready for some HARDCORE combat.

Now, lots of people hide their obsession with WoW -- you probably want to get a girl's number before you mention that you're 2300 in all 3 brackets. (Although...) But honestly, WoW is silly, cartoon-y, and fun and hardly anyone is creepy RP mode. When the voice in Fury started talking about my essences and my warrior-ness, I turned down my speakers. My walls are pretty soundproof and my immediate neighbor is a fat, Indian premed -- I couldn't take the chance though. I panicked and looked for anything to cover the voice -- porn, music, episodes of the OC on my laptop. In the end, it was the perfect soundtrack for my first hours of Unleashing the Fury, if by 'unleashing the fury' you mean whacking shitty training dummies with boring uninspired "special" moves while cursing the sluggish movement.

Training and messing around with abilities is fun, but it doesn't get me any closer to finding Abu. I decided to look for people to own with my "Death Magic" that my class trainer hooked me up with it. However, it appeared that nobody was actually playing the game and instead was complaining nonstop in chat about technical issues. I scoffed at their inferior gaming systems and female character models, "More like testicle issues" I chuckled and explained that while they dealt with their "woman's problems" I was about to do some unleashing of fury.

It's hard to describe how fun and complex the combat system in Fury is because it is in fact not a combat system, but instead the STD syphilis. (baidoku for my nihonjins) And no, I don't mean that the system is contagious or addictive. (syphilis is addictive?) I mean that, if you were a dude, and Fury was a woman, I wouldn't fuck her with your dick. You spam crappy low rank abilities (with a global cooldown thank you) until you save up enough to use your powerful moves a few times consecutively and hope to god you finish them off. (Oh yeah) If they don't finish, err you don't finish them, you can heal yourself up slowly and try again in a few minutes.

So for all you hardcore WoW PvPers who want:
  1. More RP
  2. Shiny blond hair (Maybe WLK will give you glowing hair, we'll see)
  3. Sluggish gameplay
  4. Homo-eroticism
Fury is just the game for you. I'll be playing WoW, SC2, and Huxley. (and watching Aladdin...naked)

Ten Obvious Things To Do Against 4DPS (you'll still lose anyways)

Ten Things To Slow 4DPS:

1) Counterspell offensive casts: Prioritize -- Unstable Affliction, Frostbolt, Lightning bolt. You should be counterspelling the target that your other teammates cannot as easily interrupt. While counterspelling a mage's frost tree might not seem as strong as taking out a lock's shadow or a shaman's nature tree because a mage can use other spell trees, these are much less efficient and have almost no burst potential.

2) You need to mana burn to win if they have a warlock. (which they will) You CANNOT just outheal their damage as warlock and WE mage DPS is EXTREMELY efficient and both classes can put out huge damage for a long time. However, the mage is extremely susceptible to mana burn as he needs to be out in the open to do damage to his target. If WE can be killed quickly, you land a few good burns on the mage, and deny evocate, you've taken away the mage's damage. (The mage is still a real pain with r1 poly and nova)

3) Classic+FG Lock is the best 4DPS counter. (that is a normal team) Put the FG on the mage and keep mage occupied with tongues spam. Mana burns on the shadowpriest and CC spam on their other DPS. Kill WE as mage summons them. You can afford to have your warrior play quite evasively.

4) Don't be overly picky with target choice for your warrior. He should be on the lock, shadowpriest, or rogue. Often he'll be getting snared and stunned so much he can't get on the optimal target, either split DPS at this point or assist on the target that he can actually hit. Hanging out in defensive with 2h out between spell reflects is going to be a lot better than sword and board against most teams. Depending on your matrix, it is certainly possible to get an early kill against 4DPS given your warrior doesn't take himself out of the fight too much.

5) 4DPS teams tend to rush to land AE fears to burn fear wards. Anticipate the rush and position yourself to avoid losing your fear wards unnecessarily. It's often better to meet the 4DPS team midway than let them rush into you, again don't eat novas and fears recklessly.

6) Paladins on 4DPS team to use sacrifice VERY liberally especially after they bubble. (which they tend to do early) If you're in the midgame and the mana war is starting too look bad for your team, consider killing their paladin who might be <50% health just from sacrifice damage. (He won't have time to heal himself the whole game most likely)

7) Shadowpriests are the target of choice for most teams that fight against 4DPS teams. The thought is that you reduce the SP's damage dramatically by making SWD prohibitively dangerous and shadowpriests have no interruption resistance on mind flay or mind blast. While this is true, I always considered the important shadowpriest responsibilities on a 4DPS team to be: Dispels, Misery, Silence, Mass Dispel, and then finally damage. A good shadowpriest can do a lot of these tasks while taking focus (plus has decent physical mitigation) and perhaps the best outcome of focusing a shadowpriest early is not landing a kill but putting them in a position where they're eating tons of mana burns or are being forced to run away and neglect their dispelling role. Keep pressure on SPs but don't recklessly chase.

8) If poly is on DR, and CS is down, nova is not bad against mages chain casting -- they'll frequently Blink out either due to habit, to stay in casting range, or to avoid needless lance damage.

9) Cyclone is really nasty against 4DPS obviously -- if you have a hunter pet or felguard, cyclone the mage and then put the pet on them. Cyclone still strips players of their auras and its unlikely the pally will spend a global reapplying Concentration Aura. Against most 4DPS team, expect their mage or lock to be on controlling the pally healing and either silences or earthshocks to be on your druid trying to limit Cyclone spam. Fake cast and use range well.

10) Position! 4DPS depends on position requirements. The mage needs to be in the open with LoS on you and needs to be outside of shatter combo "dead zone." The lock requires LoS to get up UA to project his shadowpriest's DoTs. If they make it obvious who their target is (your warrior), keep him out of the fight for the first few seconds and ensure he can get the charge and avoid eating massive caster damage spam.

Odd is God

Earlier this weekend we were given the chance to try some new things against the 4DPS team that has given us the most trouble, Sausage Factory, which was a reroll from their original classic+lock setup. We basically moved our shaman to being highly defensive, kept mana burns on the mage, kept UA out of the game with CS, and overall slowed the game down as much as possible with man to man coverage and poly spam. This eventually puts us in a position where we can quickly burst down one of their soft targets when we call for it. I'll definitely go into more explicit detail on how we deal with matchup and how I personally treat playing 4DPS as 2345 in a later post -- this is mostly just a catchup article.

Aside from getting our rating back that we tanked against 4DPS teams, we've not really had a chance to play the "top" teams in the BG much though I'm not honestly sure who they currently are. With so much attention on WSVG and 3s, 5s feels a bit like an afterthought right now. Hopefully, Blizzard will step up with improved disqualification rules and a more competitive season end 5s tournament this time.

I've been playing around with 0/38/23 the past few days; I'm going to hold off saying anything I'll regret about it yet. It is fun, has its problems, and has some potential advantages especially considering the types of teams that give us trouble. I basically tried it out based on Pigvomit's recommendation and goading from Alexial. It's one step closer to DB I guess. ^^

Oh, and Odd = Rahvin = GameOver's pally. He kept our 4DPS team alive. (well for the 20 seconds you need to win) He's baller.
