Affix Ruined the Class, Bro

GET RAGED ON 'FIX.

The engineering trinket is severely underused by players currently, mostly because I believe people do not understand its mechanics very well. I didn't realize this till pretty recently, and have yet to arena with it, because wtb teams, but I digress -- observe.

frankly I was more responsible for the shape of the nerfs, since I gave devs videos proving that the gay part was the timers, not the barrage.

also that trinket is awesome for packing more retarded damage into deep freezes

breaking news :(

Most of blizzard fits that description, so.

The problem was the timers so naturally they nerfed barrage anyway. Just to be sure. Long live Explosive Shot?

Raddy You have taken the usage of the word nerd to new heights

Of course cast this during a GCD. That trinket is pretty damn good. New burst sequence post nerf. Sheep or another CC into blast/PoM blast+lightning trinket into imp CS (preferably a stun) AP/IV/gloves/managem blast/blast/barrage.

that's a lot of blasting, bruh

Pretty much this.

80-0 pallys with no bubble or trinket.

didnt you say you were gonna post less about wow?

wow has sucked since FH left BB yo. les be real.

Raddy, you may not have noticed because of your caster habits and what not. I noticed in the video you stopped moving in order to cast the trinket. You can move while casting that baby.

i stopped using mine as a rogue because when i made it, moving DID cancel it, and the only perfect time to use it was inside the kidney shot gcd. then they were going to make it instant, but that love didn't get patched in. did they change something in 3.09?

Anonymous said...

I just made it yesterday to compensate for the decrease in mutilate damage. When I was testing it yesterday in Org, I could cast while moving. I doubt my lag was so horrible that I perceived that I could move while casting.

Anonymous said...

i don't know... you give up a pretty huge chunk of stats to use the lightning trinket.

i use it on certain comps as arcane, but never as frost; i don't like giving up the 100 haste and extra life that a battlemaster's gives.

though that crit was pretty sick... maybe i'll try it later.

cool, thanks. a comment on the damage it does, i know for a fact it is affected by talents that can passively boost damage, such as find weakness and murder for a rogue. i am curious if anybody has looked into this from a mage's perspective?

Anonymous said...

pretty much disagree that people are underusing this...it's starting to show up everywhere on mages and rogues

a rogue in PvP gear can consistently full stunlock me (950 resil resto shaman) with this trinket, cold blood, and vanish-garrote

pretty retarded

Just made one today and after 1½ hours of bg's i am in love. Its sickly good.

kzn said...

I'm actually having a problem with it now.

See, I have so much fucking haste, that when I pop IV/Gloves, my GCD falls to the 1s cap, meaning with any lag whatsoever the trinket slows the speed with which I can pack lances into a DF.

is it worth it if I lose out on a lance? i have no idea

Anonymous said...

Could just use it after the last lance if you thought missing the lance would cost you damage.

Raddy said...

How the balls do you have that much haste?

I start the cast while moving in the clip, but stop randomly I have no clue why. I thought it was common knowledge that you could use it while moving.

My intuition tells me to macro/bind the trinket to DF so that you use it in that first GCD, but I haven't really been playing frost...yet.

Most of the blame lies on Spire of Sunset, I suspect.

I've tried multiple macros, I cant make it work consistently. Most of the time the DF fails to go off and the GLG goes off first, or the DF goes off and the GLG doesn't cast at all.

You cant seem to castsequence items and spells in the same thing.

Anonymous said...

/cast Deep freeze
/use 13/14 depending on slot?

Anonymous said...

Doing that outside of a castsequence is liable to have the GLG going off first, and I dont think you can stick a /use into a castsequence.

dunno about the other rogue, but this was pretty useful as a rogue. You can autoattack during the attack, move also. I would cast it at full energy and CB mutilate just as it fires.

I think its better for other classes however who don't die in 2 hits and require a battlemaster.

"dunno about the other rogue, but this was pretty useful as a rogue."

i decided to give it a shot again last night, and i have to say, between speccing for bleeds and poisons focusing on rupture and SnD as my damaging finishers, it was unbelievable how much easier it was to solo a DK.

for those asking about a macro, here is a macro i might use myself:

/cast Cold Blood
/cast Eviscerate
/use Gnomish Lightning Generator

all three lines will execute in a single button press, instantly causing a crit eviscerate and then casting the trinket. however, if i create a macro that says:

/use Gnomish Lightning Generator
/cast Mutilate

then the first line will trigger, and the second throws the error "Another action is in progress."

so, the best use of the trinket is as raddy said, inside the gcd caused by another ability. the cast time is one second, so even with a gcd of 1 second, unless you are using ice lance in the last 0.1 seconds of deep freeze, i do not see lag causing an issue because the command to DF and use the trinket are sent to the server at essentially the same time. personally, i use it inside the kidney shot gcd as that is when i put the most pressure on people, and i feel as though i have little to no trouble mutilating instantly after the KS gcd.

Yupyup.

If you're arcane, you can simply bind it to pyro. I've been trying to optimize how I use engi gloves as arcane and tbh have found really no great way to use them.

I pretty much never ever use pom and arcane power at similar times anymore -- I'm not sure if this is wise or not.

I'll probably switch to play frost a lot more once I have the gear for it. (I have 100 haste currently in pvp gear^^)

does missiles still get the potency buff for all five missiles, or just the first?

i really like PoM -> Mbar -> ____. it just feels sick.

Anonymous said...

Use the gloves with IV. With only 100ish haste and Netherwind presence, IV/gloves brings arcane blast to 1.72s. Makes a really big difference when you're trying to sneak an extra blast during a stun.

hyped said...

the cast time is affected by haste do you dont have to worry about clipping your global (~.6 with gloves/veins)

personally i just squeeze it in between lances during DF (no macros)

iPhael said...

@kzn dunno what the problem is, i have a macro bind like this:

/cast Deep Freeze
/cast Gnomish Lightning Generator

And it works 100% of the time. My rogue buddy bound his to a kindeyshot and generally chains it into a CB evis, works wonders. Heres a lil demonstration (32k in ~6 seconds) for yall:

ps. youtube hd stream is fucking baller now, they just need a way to link it by default.

usually appending &fmt=18 does the trick:

Arcane Potency will only affect your first missile during mbam

Debating whether to blow the 3000g on leveling engi for a trinket that will soon get nerfed to retarded damage...

and i mean 'I am Sam' retard damage..

not 'rain man' retard damage.

Anonymous said...

The only problem with the df+trinket macro (pompyro+trinket as well) is you have to pay attention to fire it outside your global cd.
If you are on a global, the first spell will not fire and the trinket will go first instead, so you'll have to wait 1 more second to cast the spell ( or manually stopcasting it and fire the macro again, anyway losing a bit of time).
Matter of pratice nothing more anyway.

what mod are you using that displays your dmg in the center of the screen in the cute little font?
