A Misconception

Frostfire Bolt is exclusively a raiding spell. It isn't useful at all otherwise. It won't own in PvP. It will get interrupted locking out both your spell trees. Or it will get LoS'd. Or it doesn't matter because, without debuffs, it's a slower casting and less damaging frostbolt. Stop talking about elementalist in PvP. Kill yourselves. Thank you.

This might be somewhat out of context for this blog, but since I don't know any mage with TBC beta nor did I get a key myself (buncha coneheads couldnt send me a key after playing this game for 3.5 years),
anyhow what I wanted to know is if Brain Freeze adds another debuff or if it's an additional effect on your nova debuff. If it would stack another debuff, it's defo worth investing 1 point in imo.

Its so strange that all the other classes seem to be getting insane buffs while mages seem to be getting nerfed. If I had any sense I would roll a rogue.

Yeah because increasing our raid dps by like 100% is a huge nerf amirite?

Raddy don't forget we have synergy with Deatknight's now! They do a reasonable amount of frost damage that has an insane critical modifier, and they get bonuses to frozen targets. So yay.

Where exactly is this "100%" raid dps increase coming from? Certainly not from the currently shown wotlk talents.

Is called... frostfire bolt and winter's grasp stacking mages. Observe.

Something is going to get nerfed I'm sure.

PVE wise rogues aren't too happy with beta atm. PVP is meh atm the moment for rogues. Mutilate still has kiting/survivability problems and isn't very attractive in general compared to shadowstep/fleetfooted (forsaking 51 talent points) or shadowdance with the uber amount of vanishes and still getting uber survivability.

It's all still speculation and who knows what will be good or not.

why are you so emo about wotlk?

you honestly look bad when you say things like this.

0/30/41 will be a decent spec, a free win when people let you cast, probably worlds better in pmr mirrors.

when people let you cast lol.

but seriously lol

Let's be real anonymous. I never look bad.

As for rogues, I think both deep sub and muti look great.

It's beta testing. To all the tards commenting, that means you're supposed to critically analyze shit. even if it sounds emo.

also, 0/30/41 will not solve anything unless you are fighting bads. it will be los'd. it will interrupted, raping your fire and frost trees. it will be hard to capitalize with ffb when WG is up.

SS rogues will remain impossible to shake. Mutilate rogues will have hunger for blood, imp. fleet footed and free mind numbing. good warriors will always pummel/spell reflect a 3 sec cast. Enhance shamans get ghostwolf to break snares and ES your face. DKs have 2silences , and who knows what else.

In the face of all this, we really need a better deep freeze. lolffb fixes pve ( or so i'm lead to beleive), not pvp. or hope arcane is good, which im skeptical about.

@sam: Ice Barrier feels too good to not have right now. Sort of my concern with Deep Arcane for PvP. How can you give up a 24s 3500 shield? (even if a lot of comps will dispel it)

samuelbeckett said...

My hope for arcane is in the best case, it will open a new spec for mages for 2's, and maybe make mage + healer will be more viable. As it stands, mage is the only pure dps class that can't really run with a healer in 2's ( on the whole).

With the new emphasis on spirit (spirit on pvp gear maybe?); the arcane trees spirit, int and mana regen talents; and finally mage armor, a lot of the endurance problems mages face could potentially be fixed. I'm assuming there wont be many double physical dps comps (who knows with DKs tho), so lack of ice barrier will less of a problem. Arcane has plenty of magic damage mitigation as well.

of course this is all theorycrafting, and will probably be completely wrong >.<

@samuel:
all the silences in the world don't save a dk vs a frost mage since you just get kited all day.

you can give up the 3500 shield in exchange for the ability to do damage while pillar humping. hop in, barrage, hop out, wait 2 seconds, repeat
