This is the brief tailer I promised I'd have done before 2.3 PTR for the upcoming vid. Do not watch the stream, you will not be able to see what's going on. I won't say anything else for now, so enjoy, hit up the comments with feedback. I'm pretty receptive to making changes based on criticisms for the final release. (which could be a ways off depending on what people want me to do ^^)

Very impressive. I've been reading your blog for a bit now but I must say this has finally got me to post. Even for being rather short it really is highly impressive work. I haven't watched a ton of videos, but what I have seen it really see like you're raising the bar. Lots of care has went into the editing, and you can easily tell.
Also, if you don't mind I've love to see a breakdown of mods used, etc. Namely the combat text setup you use (mod, etc) and the large icons of spells that pop up.
Again, highly impressed, which the full video was coming sooner but alas if it is a full length of this then it will surely be worth it. Great work.

The skill flashing is a mod in game, it is timed perfectly with the skills cool down. It's not a show off, it would be extremely useful. Now what the mods name is, no clue, wish I knew.

I liked the split screen artistically with zone matched clips (well as artistic as any of this can be), but practically it's really distracting, it's impossible to focus on all four fights so they either get missed or force repeated viewings.

I hate when people ask, "what mods do you use?" and stupid shit like that. So I'm going to do it. Even though I'm a total addon whore, I don't have my game setup to have the text that says what everyone is doing around me at all times ("Randomperson Begins to Cast Lightning Bolt", etc.), and I desperately want it. I want it more than I wanted Taco Bell after I smoked tonight.
Also, I doubt setting that up would lead to as much diarrhea and painful grumbling after.
Anyway, I'm betting it's an option in NECB or Quartz or some other addon I already have but don't fully utilize, but if someone could shed some light on this for me, that'd sure be swell!
It's a pretty old version of spellalert SCT. It can be annoying with the spam, but I do miss it when I shut it off. I'm not @ my computer, but I'll post up the details when I get a chance. Thx for the feedback everyone. So, 16 split screens full time always for the next vid?

oh you bastard.. I was going to use that same venetian snares song (in my hypothetical pvp video I'll never make). I actually posted a link to the youtube video for that song when Dahis was asking for music suggestions. Seriously, you should have made me your music consultant, that's the only reason I want to make a video.
On second thought, you'd probably end up with nothing but Clipse songs... or one 30 minute Godspeed You Black Emperor song.. Or nothing but 30 second Saskrotch songs from Nintendo Breakbeatz Volume 1.. Or Girl Talk. Seriously, I'd use Girl Talk just to sink up that song that ends with "Hold up, wait a minute, wait a minute, hold up" with an arena comeback when it gets down to a 2v1.
As for the video: I am intrigued sir. This is more of a personal opinion thing, but I thought I'd throw my vote out there. For the finished product I'd prefer more arena then BG pvp. Until rated gulch comes out (which I will personally bust a nut over continuously until I'm spent) BG pvp just isn't that interesting unless you pulled off something insane.
(also, props on the editing. Around 2:10 when you start AoEing down some fools in basin it's synced up extremely well with the music)

For a teaser video, I didn't really feel teased. Mostly because alot of it was kind of just filler-tease, with just random scorch spamming shit.
At what point after fraps'ing gameplay footage of you typing out 'slash cast' and the respective spell's Anglo-Saxon name do you realize that the video game you're playing is nothing more than a glorified, grown up version of 'Mavis Beacon Teaches Typing!' and that you should probably find something else to fill your time until A) Blizzard makes PvP fun again (2.3 question mark) or B) Starcraft 2 is released?
And yeah, I realize I probably shouldn't do a gigantic run on sentence that's a question because the question tends to get lost.
The first song is "Venetian Snares - Szamár Madár" and second "Radiohead - Someone Else" if it hasnt been mentioned somewhere already.
The speed of the video is so fast that I did not see the first few watchings how your are slash casting during the GCD. You really need to slow down the action dramatically if you want people to understand what is going on. How the hell are you typing the water elemental summon so fast m8?
Oh and because nobody else said anything, using that invisibility to immune both the pet and the hunter at the start was ridiculous.
Because none of the feedback you're receiving is constructive criticism, let me say that you should touch up a few of the transitions and fix the music timing with how the first track ends. The blue text in the opening is too hard to read and is on the screen too shortly. The first few seconds need a saturation and contrast adjust so that the blacks match, you have been lazy here judging by how advanced some of your editing is particularly with saturation modifications. The transitions are nice but given how fast the video moves, consider that a lot of the dynamic masks and crap is just lost in the tempo.
PS I love the extra-shine saturation thing going on during that text casting duel against the rogue. I'm guessing you aren't sharing your settings for that.

You lost me at splitscreen action. It just didn't work. I like split screen when it shows another perspective of the same event taking place. Not different matches. It just doesn't work at all.

we all have seen this before. your movement maybe not, but the rest, it is going to be hard for you to impress us.
loved the arena clips, and omg i want your spell damage. but please, dont add clips of games in which your team executes a strategy and wins. show us clips of you blinking behind pillars to counterspell people and flashy highlights like that. or you and your teammates in good come backs. like...2vs3 or 2vs4.
the invisibility thing was cool, and the first /cast counterspell too.

watching your video reminds me why I don't play my mage anymore... my decision-making and movement is so bad by comparison, it's obvious that I'm wasting my time.

There is a purpose to using the typing, but the one I can think of seems rather insane. The typing could be used to time exactly with cooldowns. For instance, using a lower rank of Frostbolt as a shorter cast time than the higher rankings. Therefore you can cast the highest, type a lower one, Frost Nova. That means you're damaging constantly but also not wasting time by going over when your real goal is to catch the cooldown.
Again, that would take a lot of awareness and you'd need to instantly remember what rank has what casting time, but only possible reason I can think of for doing it.
oh and remember to zip+upload the soundtrack when you finish it ^^

I liked the video. - dump the splitscreen its never worked
- keep titles up a bit longer for readability - the ones in the funky font anyways
- superb music, we're all sick of that altrock hiphop crap. sure those are great songs but man...
- consider 'scoring' the video... selecting tracks and having the music reflect whats going on... probably easier with machinima but i've never seen it done well... music is a massive part of any video, the pros will tel you. something to consider anyways for the next one, its hard to do but why not practice
- for gods sack call out the opposition classes and specs in arenas, i hate it when i'm too busy trying to figure out specs and classes to watch the vid properly
- if your gonna zoom you want to hold it a bit longer so we can see which cooldown or whatever you're showcasing.

Too fast to get a feel of what is going on. There isn't any setup (foreplay) so most of the arena shots are just a fast forwarded maged assisting on targets, without really any focus on what the matchup is.
Split screen is very tricky to pull off, and with four unrelated scenes going on at the same time we can really only concentrate on one.
The waves effects were nice, but that's about it.
So, like, this was his trailer to his movie.
So, maybe he was like just doing the split screen as a trailer only thing.
Just because it was a format on the trailer doesn't mean thats what his movie is going to have!

Looks really good so far. I'd limit the /cast "..." scenes to no more than a minute or so out of a 15 minute movie, otherwise it would get rather boring quickly. I could do without the split screen stuff but not a big deal.
Other than that, the arena looks good as does the other stuff you had to show. Editing looks great as well. Really most interested in seeing high rated arenas, I'd throw some high rated 2v2 in there if you can manage that.

Sorta forgot commenting on the trailer because i wanted the song so badly.
Music was top! editing, was top i really enjoy fast paced editing like you had in this movie.
Only thing i can complain about is really the text at the start, some of it was very very hard to read, and the split screen was maybe a tad too much going on at one time.
Apart from that it was great :)

A lot of you guys are forgetting the fact that Raddy is funny. Most of the stuff people are bitching about; split screen, zooms, over sfx, over editing, and hyper speed are there moreso as a joke than a serious effort. People need to realize he's somewhat poking fun of other people's videos, and that he wants to do something unique and wholly his own.

I definitely know a few things I want to do differently in the future.
Actually, the first release of this that probably a few people here saw ended where the fullscreen section ended, but I felt that it did not really highlight a lot of what the video would contain so I went with the split screens to try to give some impression of what's to come. Doesn't really seem like the idea worked, but hey. ^^
I have to say that releasing short little videos like this is way more satisfying than 20+ minute behemoths as you get to focus on the details WAY more.
@Nuked - You still have that video? I lost the hard drive with that and 2.5 years of CS footage. (20gigs of demos) I have yet to find anybody with a copy. =(

LOL@text battles. That's just nuts and I think Mavis Beacon may steal that as an idea for their next release. Think you could beat a clicker in equal gear like that? No macros on either side, you type and they click. You could even make them keyboard turn. Or better yet, you do a click/keyboard turn fight as well.
The multi split screen would only be good if you could cast from one screen and kill someone in a different location on another screen. Otherwise it was too much even on my 30" widescreen.
