Where Have All the WoW Blogs Gone?

Where is my World of Drifting? Where is my Yea We Lift? Where is my Shadow Gaming? Where have all the WoW Blogs gone~

People are burning out. During times like these, it used to be Warhammer. But, we all knew that nobody was really quitting WoW for Warhammer. Those little toy figure things? Good luck with that brosephs, don't let the door hit you in the NEVER GETTING LAID on the way out.

And NO, I'm not going to rant anymore about Fury because I'll fucking "regret it." I will say that Fury will leave you all like Eva Green after witnessing Bond murder those men in the stairwell, scared and shivering, crying and alone in your shower trying to wash the filth off your bodies, but it just won't come out, it won't fucking come out. YOU WILL BE THE ONES WHO "REGRET IT."

So...what happened? I'm feeling it too and I don't do the whole black lipstick emo thing. Yeah sure, I might have used a girl's gloss once, but it was to moisturize and I didn't know it had glitter in it. Anyways, I spent a long time thinking about what's making everyone lose interest in the game, and I'm pretty sure that it is warlocks. They're really fucking gay. Nobody likes them.

It has gotten so bad I've taken to watching "Exploration" vids. And no, we're not talking DP or fisting, they're videos of people like jumping off cliffs with Slowfall and just...like walking around. Fuck Neilyo7, I can't wait to see what this guy jumps off next! Apparently, even the "explorers" are pretty emo as, at the end of Nerf Slowfall2, there's a long segment dedicated to how flying mounts ruined "hardcore exploration." (I previously blamed my sense of decency)

Perhaps part of it is people not actually trying to have any fun with arena. Logging in to obsess about your rating and act cocky while never actually playing any good teams somehow does get mildly tiresome -- yet makes great PvP blog material. Of course, this just leaves you in a position to be horribly humiliated and humbled inevitably, and nobody wants that. Yeah, it's like that. If only my blogging was as good as my... oh fuck subtlety.

And seriously where are the boomkin and enhancement shaman PvP blogs? Must we all play the exact same matrices with the exact same strategies and then complain about counters and resists and crits? Let's see you counter my enhancement shaman, 30/0/31 druid, rogue/lock 3s team. People have prioritized winning over balling and that's why nobody is having fun. Why spec Slow? BECAUSE ITS BALLER.

I'm not advocating becoming one of The Sucks. (You know who you are) I just miss when people were trying out new shit. I don't agree at all with the notion that 4DPS was made possible by season 2 gear scaling -- it was made possible by people seeing that other teams were making it work, so they adapted and made it work. The same will hold true for the next big thing -- that's just how it is in this game. (And it is exactly true in PvE too. Oh Nihilum killed this boss? Well I guess he's killable then blah blah blah)

The whole situation isn't improved by being in permanent limbo on this stupid 2.2 patch. Thank you for giving The Sucks who are too antisocial to use Vent the ability to shriek into their mics at us. I can't wait to hear the voice of that female NE hunter who takes zerking from me in every WSG. Somehow I doubt its a hottie with a slight HK accent, a broken air conditioner, and a webcam.

Ultimately, WoW doesn't depend at all on competitive arena tournament-style PvP. I was always content with the guild vs guild BG matches, test server duels, and world PvP against the big names on the server. I always thought WoW PvP was pretty solid well before arenas, tournaments, and sponsored "professional" gamers -- I love these things too, but the notion that the "hardcore" "elite" of WoW are going to move on to some other MMO and destroy WoW PvP with their exodus is retarded. I think SC2 cannibalizing WoW's PvP "space" is a much greater concern.

PvE's about as dead as ever, as well. Bring on The Sucks, and bring on SC2, imo.

Baller post, too.

yer warlocks are just the only thing u see in 2s now days, rather boring same old shit.

As fun as it is playing 2100+ arena games i still liked the wtf of the class comps at 1500-1600

4dps really dont bring much fun to 5v5 been on the other end of it.

the idea of warlocks drain mana not getting changed is really making me think that i wont be playing wow by jan next year.

p.s FUCK WARLOCKS - remove them from the game u open up the game!

Anonymous said...

Noone is excited about wow anymore. Maybe it's just because i'm not in a top raiding guild anymore like i was at 60, but noone seems to be anywhere near as excited about raiding as they were at 60. Anyone reading forums/EJ saw all the buzz about patch kills and thr 4HM c.block, there doesn't seem to be the same thing at 70.

The same seems to be happening with PVP, everyone was really excited but now it seems like most teams are similar make-ups, counters are well known, and there's not enough innovation. Whether this is because the game isnt deep enough is debateable, but personally i blame blizz nerfing anything that seems OP as quick as they can (eg dot nerf) without waiting to see if players will come up with their own counters.

There's no drama in WoW anymore. People can't argue about who's the best because one of them is just going to point to their armory and leave it at that. Plus cross server BGs took all the personality out of the opposition and flying mounts let you blue flag on PvP servers, destroying any hope for world pvp.

Warhammer may not have the polish of WoW, but I bet it will have drama. At least as long as the game is new and fresh.

..And I bet the devs won't be stupid enough to put something as homo erotic as flying mounts into the game.

magdain said...

It's really quite simple. WoW brought a lot of great things to MMOs, and while the game was fresh that's enough.

Now that people have gotten over it, everybody is noticing that WoW has lost virtually all of it's depth. Battlegrounds are dull (and I swear, if Warhammer doesn't change their scenario where you STAND THE FUCK AROUND A FUCKING FLAG UNTIL IT FUCKING CAPS IM GOING TO STAB SOMEONE IN THE EYE), and they killed real world pvp.

Ever since the pre-bc patch there's nothing to distinguish yourself from any other player, and there's virtually no sense of accomplishment. Who DOESN'T have 5 merc glads + weapon + identical veteran's set anymore? Even on high pop pvp servers, world pvp is basically ganking all the ballers in frozen shadoweave and spellfire doing daily quests in Ogri'la.

Arena is fun for a while in theory, but once you've perfected your game and playstyle, it comes down to team comp, rngs, and execution of basic concepts. Yeah, fighting a good competitive team is awesome, but sitting around shatt to join one of 3 arenas and fight 2 dozen mediocre teams to every good team gets old fast.

Even if you manage to revolutionize some crazy class composition, all that will happen is you'll have a blast for a week or two, everybody sees your comp, copies it then it's back to sitting in queue in shatt to do the same thing. Over and over. And over. Same thing that's happened with 4DPS, 4DPS+Druid, the Mana Drain Team.. The only thing that hasn't really followed this pattern is 5DPS. gogo SnP?

Seriously funny writing, I like how relaxed and irreverent the tone is. Keep us the good work.

The future of WoW PVP =

Resto Shaman
Resto Druid
Holy Pally
Holy Priest
UA Lock

Blake said...

warlocks really do need to be toned down. in my opinion this is why you rarely see different class comps in 2v2 (somewhat 3v3) cause you are either getting dominated by warlocks or you are picking something that can have a chance vs them at high rating

Great post, stick to this style.

The warlock stuff is true.

Flying mounts destroyed world pvp.

But raddy you are starting to sound emo...you're scaring me.

But hey, there *are* more WoW blogs out there! Started one a few days ago, check it out. (Combobreaker.blogspot.com)

Nothing special, but I promise not to talk about basketball and sharingan.

BTW Slow isn't baller. DB is Baller.

Awesome.

On a practical note, the delay of the patch is a big problem. It's been fucking forever.

WHERE IS MY DOT NERF? WHERE IS MY CRIT DAMAGE INCREASE?

WHO THE FUCK CARES ABOUT VOICE? GET VENT FOR FUCK'S SAKE.

Also, flying mounts should auto-dismout if they take any damage when lower than the damage threshold.

Because Raddy, most blogging is gay, and elitist pricks waving their cocks around is a huge turnoff for us "normies" or whatever. This isn't sports and no one is a spectator, everyone involved is a player and we don't like to repeatedly hear about "the best x class" or the l33t pwnerer battlegroup of pwnsauce to whom no one else compares. The pvp honestly isn't that deep anyway, there's too much mmo bullshit in the way to allow for real community-wide experimentation.

Anyway, pve is great. I get back into hardcore raiding and realize how much I missed it. Still some bullshit there though, consumable costs are killing me. But it's fun and rewarding. Oh and I still respec for arena sometimes. =p

Raddy this is the only blog I still read, because you're not full of shit and you aren't about sucking other people's dicks. You just post good strats and some funny stuff, that's all we really need.

"I don't agree at all with the notion that 4DPS was made possible by season 2 gear scaling"

Nobody said this, it just made it better. 4DPS was plenty dominant in season one.

This is what happens when you level to 70 overnight; burn thru all PvE the moment it comes out; play 300 arena games the first week of the season to get above 2000 and hardly see any movement after that because you beat everyone else to the gear. This is what happens to those that spend more time online playing WoW in one week than most professionals do in two weeks of work. This is what happens when WoW is your only outlet of socializing and having fun.

There is no lack of content in WoW. Blizzard isn't wrong for taking 120+ days to release the 2.2 patch. This isn't about warlocks either as several classes appear OP in the right environment.

For those that have taken their time with the game, enjoyed the summer weather, went to class and done their homework, not called in sick because they were up too late playing WoW....the game still has plenty to do.

The only crowd that can really complain is the exploration crowd. Once wall walking ended (long before flying mounts) the Noggenfogger community shutdown. Wall walking never hurt anyone and it added an odd dimension to the game that Blizzard failed to recognize. People wanted to explore the entire Virtual world, and it was a complement to the completed and incomplete work they pushed out to the public servers.

And Radikal. Next time you use the gloss, take a pic and post it. You know, not for fapping or anything.

As for the other blogs? I don't care that they don't exist anymore. Too many people going for fame instead of talking about the game. You blog is still commercial free and is indeed a blog and nothing else. Even Worldofraids and MMO Champion are annoying to go to with the amount of adds on it now. I prefer to go to WoWwikki instead to gain information.

Nadagast said...

I think the reason you don't see as much innovation in this game is because of how long it takes to reroll and regear. It's insane...

Also they need to let you pick a team to scrim against and let you do this cross BG.

Gearing up a character is the primary functional source or any RPG. If you don't like that, find another game genre to play in. This isn't a quick pace game and isnt' intended to by played that way. Maybe Guild Wars will improve upon their insta-PvP setup with GW2 and you can move there. Otherwise just wait for Hellgate London, SC2 or any upcoming traditional boring FPS game.

Raddy said...

Two Quick Things (And yeah I just woke up LOL)

1) I'm mostly kidding -- I'm not really that emo about WoW. I do feel (I could be WAY wrong) that the game is changing as players lose interest in arena but there's more to WoW than just epeen flexing your superior rating.

2) Teki, mind if I post that convo form IRC? It's pretty much dead on about a few things particularly how it's hard to relate to the game when you don't PvE. (you feel like a tourist)

Raddy said...

Bleh spelling ftw in that last comment

Just saw the anonymous post saying "Gearing up a character is the primary functional source or any RPG"

Do you really believe this? I mean I'm an MMO virgin before WoW (though me and WoW have done things I'll never forget) so I'm not sure my opinion is too useful.

Just saw your blog a few days back. Funny stuff rad, how ya been?

Gearing in WoW is the primary means of character improvement. In other MMOs, this wasn't necessarily the case. For example, take Lineage 2. Gear was mostly standardized with one or two options per "tier," and the majority of your character's power was obtained through leveling. Now, the game was a terrible grindfest and rerolling there would make rerolling in WoW look like child's play. But it's an example of the different balance in that respect. EVE is pretty much a 50/50 split between skill and gear(your ship/modules).

I feel badly for Blizzard. If the VOIP engine had worked as advertised and not repeatedly crashed people, we'd probably have 2.2 live and 2.3 on the PTR. As it stands, we're stuck with the CMs commenting that 2.2 will need another couple builds at minimum to fix the sound crash bugs and wondering what we're going to do.

I personally recommend PS2 RPGs(Odin Sphere is hella fun, as is Shin Megami Tensai: Persona 3) and some of the computer games that have come out recently.

"Gearing up a character is the primary functional source or any RPG"

If you switch this to "Gearing up a character is the primary functional source of any diablo clone or any asian grind fest MMO game" you would have true statement, but the real RPG is about adventures, quests, dungeons, warfare and character advancement. Bad thing is that most game developers turned character developement into pure *kill* *collect loot* *count xp*. Seriously, how many people do you know who actually like grinding? I mean, in table RPG It's hell fun because you travel with your friends, you set up ambushes on caravans, you are being trapped and ass raped by goblins in a mountain passage etc, and the level comes from doing fun stuff. No limits, no "end-game", not boring grinding. Open up your mind and check out www.darkfallonline.com I'm going to wet my pats if this ever comes out.

Damn this looks like advertisement... oh well, though it would be fun too see what raddy thinks about this game. Anyway, nice topics from raddy as usual. Keep it up!

Yeah yeah, Enhancement Shaman viability in PvP, I feel desparately concerned about this -.-

I'm trying those days to gear up in order to do serious competitions in PvP. Most enhancement folks from my server doesn't do pvp anymore or just the "minima" to obtain weapons. Well, more a grind issue than PvP. Or they decide to spec element/resto just for their week pvp session. Trying to enter a team as enhancement ain't that simple because all -serious- gamers focus on what "Minghassaidyesterdayonhisblog".

And as Ming doesn't give a shit about Enhancement Shaman (until proven wrong), I had to find some good "undergeared as me" friends to begin the 2vs2 and soon 3vs3 thing.

We do know that for the moment prople will crush our faces but I still do believe that offensive purging abilities combined to huge DPS/Totem possibilities could be really interesting, specially versus 'locks.

Does anyone has the name of a really good enhancement shaman from a top-rated team ?

Dajay said...

Oh and yeah, great blog imo.

Its got nothing to do with blizzard having made wrong game decisions that WoW is losing its flair. Things just get old sometimes because, the game IS getting old.
