Raddy: Water Elemental Dueling On Test III FINISHED

Pre-release out. Should have a WCM release out in a day or two, definitely by this weekend. For those impatient few that I love for bothering to read this silly site:

http://files.filefront.com/rad3wmv/;7580761;/fileinfo.html

Please DL it and don't watch the stream, the quality suffers so much! Just get a player like, http://www.videolan.org/vlc/, which lets you play as it downloads, trust me. ^^

It's not exactly what I wanted it to be, but no video I've released for any game I've played has been; I think it shows a lot of what I wanted to have people see with how I treat most the fights as of the latest mage changes.

The video has no commentary, but as a compromise solution, I'm going to have an extremely lengthy post on here detailing each fight play-by-play which I should have wrapped up this weekend.

For those who hated my previous video, you probably won't enjoy this one much. ^^

What you will find in the vid is:
  1. Strong competition. There are some amazing players to watch participate in these fights; some of the matches I included showcase what they do more than what I do in some ways. Particularly, the way Dahis handles warrior vs mage. He is the only war I've seen do this fight EXTREMELY well. I could go on...but no spoiling the video.
  2. Not much editing. More time editing = less time dueling!
  3. Dueling only. No arena, no world PvP, no BGs.
  4. Only WE Spec. A lot of people asked me to showcase some of these matchups as other specs; I did truly want to do this, but it will have to wait until another video. I do enjoy playing other non WE specs, and it is inevitable. (Seriously, I like to duel and release vids, how many WE dueling vids can I possible make?)
  5. Mistakes. I mess up in a lot of the fights; before coming to test, I probably would not have known a lot of the things I previously did as mistakes even ^^
  6. A lot of class variety. I spent a lot of time whining various places and to various people to come duel on the lake -- you'll see less rogues, less feral druids, more locks, pallies, war, resto druids etc.
  7. Music: Hip Hop, Jpop, Japanese Hip Hop, Whiney Art Rock, and Drum n Bass. Pretty much the staples of all my vids. (Those who know me from other games can vouch for this ^^)

And lastly, while it isn't included in the video per se, humility. I'm not trying to prove anything. Just because I included a cilp of winning a matchup doesn't mean I have it on farm, doesn't mean I'm a better player than my opponent -- it doesn't mean anything but that I chose to include that particular fight because I felt it showed something. I don't really see many mages actively dueling anymore. (either on test or in videos) It's a shame because we really are an extremely versatile and powerful class 1 on 1, and while perhaps not a favorite in every matchup, have pretty solid tools for beating any class 1 on 1.

Oh and a final note, thanks to Ming for mentioning the brief mage vs. rogue guide I started -- I plan on getting back to it and going ahead with similar guides for other classes.

Awesome video! Impressive opponents, especially Dahis' warrior was nice to see in action. Some of the druids were pretty sad though, the ones trying to kite didn't keep MF+IS up. Looks very hard to beat WE mage as feral as well.

Whiney art rock?

Are your other videos still uploaded anywhere?

You handle a lot of fights very poorly, the only one of note is your rogue strategy, which I must admit is pretty near perfect as far as that fight goes. I skipped a lot of the more boring ones but:
-you blinked toward a frost mage, enough said (that mage you faced looked pretty awful from that clip btw)

Mage vs mage with imp cs should go:
Pet nova > ice lance, nova > he blinks > you CS > he ice blocks. Repeat. If you can get him nova'd without blink up and without ice block up then blow imp CS and go for a combo.

It's all about using CD's properly. Other than that if both mages play it properly it's all RNG which is why I hate mage v. mage.

Against GC:
The only way you're going to get a good shaman sheeped is nova > blink away out of shock range, sheep, (sheep again if GT'd)
You have pet nova for another if he trinkets.

Also, opening with pet nova is a terrible idea. If you have flamethrowing I usually go with frostbolt > scorch scorch > fake a cast and get ES'd, ice lance totem > fire blast. If not frostbolt > scorch is still feasible, but you may have to fake the scorch if he get's too close quickly.

Don't CS before he uses NS cus 90% of the time it will be a fake.

PS: Dahis is really gewd

best mage video i have seen so far incredible skills not horrible editing did not love the music but whatever

to Depz: Are you retarded? He does not have imp CS in those duels and as someone who has dueled Raddy WE mage vs WE mage a lot on test I'll definitely say he is by far the hardest player I have faced.

He basically kites and tanks your pet till your OOM and then kills you which is pretty cheap, but it works. And no good mage will let you simply pull that off on you as they will be trying to do the same thing. Learn to play and not theorycraft.

And against a good shaman you cannot reliably get a sheep, he does nova and blink to poly at one point and only gets the sheep because GC overconfidently frostshocks. you are better off just starting with pet out, stealing their ES, and running down their mana pool till you force a mistake or defensive grounding, then sheep and evocate and bandage up, and use second pet for the kill.

and lastly arent you the same guy who trashtalked dahis over and over and now come back with your like "i approve of him" BS. not to be a dick, but you are condescending as fuck.

Well to be fair, the first time Depz saw me playing I was messing around trying to kill Mages by "kiting" them with a thrown weapon.

Raddy's really good though.

Raddy said...

WOAH. I'm so honored to have flaming going on.

Yeah I was playing those GC duels REALLY badly, but no other resto shaman that I dueled on test really was on the same level and the vids are just like me sheeping and bursting him down post NS while outranging shocks. Not stuff you can easily pull off on someone who really really knows the fight.

Dahis said...

Not my best, I guess I don't play that consistently unless I know the pressure's on. Should've been a bit more careful about landing Intercept during your global and bandaging only through Spell Reflect.

I filmed a bunch of duels against Chad though, so eventually people will get things from my perspective.

Great video overall.

You definately got your shit down, great video man. For me, Dahis and Unsouled seemed to pop out the most when it come to your opponents. Dahis especially had a very unique, and effective strategy.

Just curious though, did you duel Inactive on test after you got accustomed to the changes? From the clip I did see of him though, he seemed like a very talented rogue in any case.

Oh and geecee was good too!

I enjoyed the video very much

Makes me QQ that invis into IB doesn't work anymore

Although the Flamestrike on Dahis did irk me a bit :P

Overall though, I liked it lots :)

Not much editing. More time editing = less time dueling!

The editing is really good. Watching all those 5 different SonyVegas effects over and over in nearly all WoW-Movies is simply boring.
Just pick one or two effects, one or two fonts and make a movie in one consistent style.

Oh, and some nice duels! (next movie really needs more shamans ;) )

The only thing that makes me sad:
The dual-iceblock nerf really hurts in Warlock duels :-(

The editing is Incredible especially the music editing. That second track where you transition between that song from kill Bill and that hip hop track is unbelievable smooth

The video editing is gorgeous too love the simple levels tweak you use in your vids its a very nice effect

Approximately what percentage of recorded footage actually goes into the end video?

Directed at any video makers

As far as how I choose what clips to make out of what I record, I don't really have a simple answer:

Basically, I record fights against players where I think the fight will be interesting. If it isn't, I immediately delete it to save space.

By doing this, I had about 900 gigs of footage for this video. A lot of times, I have a lot of very similar duels against the same opponents so I just delete duels that are really just repeating what I see in other fights already. This enables me to keep recording against new players if I'm still missing a few matchups and reduces the total amount of footage I have to sift through.

In Vegas, I create a new video track for every class and try to make sure I'm not too lopsided or missing any matchups.

I favor fights against different players to similar fights with the same player; so I'll use clips with two different opponents instead of the same opponent if only to add a bit more player diversity.

After doing this, I was left with like an hour and change of fights, which was obviously too much. I was pretty much stumped at this point with what I wanted to use, what I wanted to cut, so I started working from the other side, and focused on the soundtrack. I tried to line up music with the particular fights I wanted the tracks with, and in doing so, you sort of know which clips you "have to keep."

A bunch more editing, showing the clip to friends to see what they like/think, and you have something more polished.

I'm not really sure I answered the question, but I'm continually deleting footage as I record due to storage constraints, so it is pretty hard to know what percentage of what I ever record gets used. It's also possible that fights I like that just don't fit in this video will make their in later videos. If you really wanted a forced answer, I'd say for this video, 10%?

Just got a quick question, what is that UI mod called you have that shows what the other guy is casting, it doesn't look like nature enemy castbars to me, but it looks really neat and I'd like to give it a go.

Not sure why everyone got upset over what I said. But hokay.
If a mage let's you kite him like that they deserve to lose. It's not very hard to get a slowing effect/root on your opponent if you're not braindead.

And yea, you can run a resto shaman OOM like any other shaman, but it's also possible to burn them down after NS if you play it right on the opponer. Dropping pet nova out of sheep is a bad idea, as the shaman will just GT the incoming frostbolt and often enough it will eat the ice lance as well. Watching raddy duel GC he tried to combo him out of sheep every time, and failed every time. You're better off frostbolting the sheep, waiting for grounding, killing it, then going for a combo.

Chances are he'll either trinket the first one or blow NS, either way he's down one CD at that point. I prefer to save pet till I get him a bit lower because it is possible to burst through NS with pet out.

No where did I call Radikal bad, He's good, otherwise I wouldn't bother commenting. He handles the hunter and rogue fights very well, as well as most of the druid ones.

I'm pretty sure the post you're referencing wasn't about Dahis, it was about Chadwickk. Who I did duel and 6-0 on the PTR - given he was AP/Frost, but I beat him a couple times without using any cd's when he used full cd's, and I didn't have Imp CS. I never said anything bad about Dahis.

" Video was fairly entertaining.

Being a mage I mostly enjoyed the mage clips - but Chadwickk is pretty freaking bad. I watched him get rolled by a gnome warrior the other day in dun morogh several times (dueling to win!) who I’d flawless without Cd’s."

That warrior you "flawlessed" was, Dahis. I don't know what it is, but you're a complete retard. Do you have some hidden agenda against me or something? Seems like you always have some aggorant comment to make about how I play. WE should never lose to an ap/frost mage so please get off your high horse. And I can guarantee you wouldn't beat me if it was the other way around. If I really gave a shit, I would've respecced back to WE and actually tried during those duels. Mage duels are retarded, especially given my spec during that set up. Then again, you seem to consider it skill when I'm there just to f' around. Oh, and "but I beat him a couple times without using any cd's when he used full cd's, and I didn't have Imp CS." Gimme a break. Get a f'kin life scrub, you make me sick.

Sorry for the derail Raddy, but I just can't f'kin stand you Depz.

Anyways, great vid, I enjoyed it

Where in there do I call Dahis bad? Killing a warrior still isn't a giant accomplishment.

You're the one that kept asking me to duel so if you really didn't want to then maybe you could've stopped. And yea, I beat you without using Cd's at least once while you used AP/POM, Ice block, and had Imp CS. Another time you cold snapped and lost.

Really don't care if you like me or not, kid. You might be great at fighting rogues, but when it comes to mages, Spec doesn't make up for much when youre playstyle/generic strategy is way off.

I wasn't impressed with you.
Sorry it gets under your skin so much.

10-15% I'd say for me.

Just found this blog. I loved the first PTR movie you did. D/Ling the second now.

Won't hold it against you that you didn't like my movie. I'm not that type of person. Besides, nobody liked it. ;P
