That's not bad damage at all, 23k in a deep freeze but everything crit'ed. With 20% base +50% shatter -10% resil, you only have 60% crit on PVP targets, lowering the average damage of this to probably around 14k (didnt do the math).
If you have someone else stunning, arcane still outbursts frost by a solid margin, which is how it should be.
They really cant nerf it that much considering the strength of some of the other stuff around. Plus it doesn't scale in any way or form. It most certainly is potent though :D
@anon: It seems as though your non-math math is calculating the reduction of crit chance as an average reduction of damage. It doesn't work like that though. Bottom line is, at 60% (really 66% on FBs if you have winters chill/emp fb - but I digress...) you're still critting more than half of the time. We're not talking about crit strike dmg bonus, we're talking about crit strike chance.
For very simple math, if you look at his dmg it's actually 27k. So lets say 60% of the time he does 27k and 40% of the time he does 15k. The "average" damage would be 22k.
Consider that resilience targets will also have crit damage reduction, which brings the average down because he'll have that much less damage when everything crits (varying on how much resilience the target has, so anywhere from 10-25% less damage on the top end of the damage spectrum from that sequence).
@ Law, true I lowerballed it a little too much. My point remains that with crit dmg reduction, on a resil target, thisll prob be at most 20k damage, significantly less if youre unlucky. An arcane combo of the same duration is guarenteed to burst much more damage. I'm thinking blast/PoM blast/trinket into HoJ AP/IV/etc blast/blast/barrage. Even without any crits, thats over 25k damage, guarenteed.
can prob sneak even another blast before the barrage with decent haste, but thats prob unnecessary as even only one crit is enough damage to kill anyone.
You're only casting 3 blasts in there, the other blast/barrage are instant. With IV/gloves and a little haste, blast is around 1.7s. Seems to me the required casting is roughly similar to the frost video here : 3 frostbolts, one without IV/haste shit popped.
The biggest drawback being, of course, you need someone else to stun the target... but if you do, arcane burst in that stun will out-do frost by a very large margin.

My word! How much haste for this!?
I've discovered fullscreen. BRB!

OOOOOOOOOOOH
I BEEN CASTING ON THIS STUN SO LONG
hay that looks familiar :3
the best part about it is you dont rely on the pet whatsoever and can really catch people off gaurd.
Been shitting on teams so hard with that trinket. I dread the inevitable nerf.

Yeah phael <3
WB from the Dark Side, Raddy.

Get Ben Franklin'd
http://files.filefront.com/Lightningwmv/;13316543;/fileinfo.html
I second Ultimus.
It is now officially known as "Franklin" someone.
The past tense is to have been "Franklin'ed" (not frankled)
It is the "Franklin combo"
the name is perfect for the frostmage because (bad joke inc) "kiting is key"
YOU CANNOT NERF THIS MAN, HELL, EVEN THE FRENCH LOVED HIM.
"I second Ultimus.

Did you watch the vid too? I have a bunch of these but I'm keeping that shit under wraps like it's area 53 or some shit cuz I don't want it nerfed...
It will get nerfed regardless of whether or not you mention it.
Much better to have as many people causing as much chaos for as long as possible than savoring it until some nerdbag whines to a GM.
Remember, chaos is patriotic :D
It looks like the original link was cut-off, I'm doing really bad at this commenting system.
It's linked to my name now I guess.
This is just like the time I tried to leave a voicemail on a girl's phone when I was 16.
BRADLEY?!
Are you actually casting something?
Would that be a first for this expansion, Raddy?
I dont really see it being nerfed all that much, if at all. It takes up a trinket slot, some of which are way crazier - 98 SP and 505 haste proc?!
They might put it on the GCD which would blow a bit.
Uh, based on some testing, I think pure lance spam is more damage than that.

Now what's the song? :0
"Even without any crits, thats over 25k damage, guarenteed."
five or six casts is far from a guarantee.
yeah, what song is that? "That's the word" brings up like seven trillion results, at least.
It's way funnier when a DK swings twice and does this much damage than when it takes 4 or 5 gcds and an off-gcd trinket to do it.
Also, a lot of relevant targets have either 30% stun duration reduction, or take 30% less damage while stunned. So that kindof hurts this a lot.

kidney shot + 5 seconds of a mage freecasting is pretty fatal regardless of whether you do 30k arcane damage or 20k frost damage.
RADDY I NEED TO KNOW THE NAME OF THE SONG IN THE SHATTER VIDEO
Is it almost time for the new playlist yet?
