Season 2 Mage Gear + Some New PvP Epics

I'm sure these will hit everywhere shortly, so this is just a subset of what's new ^^

I'm not going to say anything besides, check out the armor! o.O

BTW, the overall upgrade going from full set season one with staff to season two with staff:

stam +7
int +7
hit +3
crit +6
resil +4
damage +26
armor 997

More incoming!

Mages are an armor class

You know they are, each piece of this set is like an extra point in arcane fortitude. Just wait for the Ming post on how rogues can never beat mages now that have so much armor.

nice, +6 stam on the whole set....
and we lose some int.

How do you plan on upgrading beginning of season raddy? And what do you think of these changes? They seem awful.

I bet you wish you still PvE, eh noob?

ya, cause it would be so dam hard for a non raiding mage in a raiding guild to get back in pve...

Yup, look at the changes compared to melee, and mages got ripped off; balance druids got killed.

" Mage set has:

18 more stamina (What the hell, we don't have nearly the same damage avoidance/mitigation options or escape abilities as them, but we get less stamina?)

35 less spell damage

4.75% more chance to crit

38 less intellect (which is made up for by arcane talents, which every competitive arena mage picks up arcane/frost)

Equal resilience

127 less armor as cloth than our "leather" armor.

36 less mp5.

The leaving of set bonuses, those terrible 4 piece and glove set bonuses, irritate me to no end considering concenrs were voiced in a constructive manner in the PTRs. I am tired of this crap; give us that 15% movement speed increase on all forms and a useful glove bonus.

The mp5...WTB it on my t4 balance sets, not for an environment in which the fights last no more than 5 minutes.

The armor difference is outright demoralizing. Sure, with moonkin form we increase it by a large amount, but last time I checked, we can't heal in moonkin form, we can't use damage mitigation shields that mitigate much more from hits than our armor does, we can't ice block to become immune to damage, and we can't blink out of opponent focus fire.

If you take into consideration what 1% crit is worth at 900ish spell damage, which is what most casters will have, their 4.75% to crit gives them a damage benefit equal to or a tad higher than our +damage advantage. Resilience playing into this, and the fact that it didn't increase by much, might help balance out any damage differences the two sets have.

What breaks the deal for me is that we have still less stamina than a MAGE. Granted it's not 41 less stamina like the previous set, but it's still an 18 stamina difference, which is still a noticeable difference.

That coupled with unchanged set bonuses leave me rather frustrated and unimpressed.

I don't have the time to calculate other set differences, but could someone check the other sets? I have a strong suspicion that the druid sets are still the sets with the lowest stamina ratings, which is inadmissible."

the armor bonus is amazing... but does it out-weigh looking like a retard?

Priest set(healing)
+995armor
+21sta
-18int
+5res
+32heal
+3mp/5

The upgrade is awesome :)

Also the new honor items buff +healing quite a bit and even the int loss from the glad set.

Looks like all cloth sets got around 1000 armor... but only mages got nearly nothing else (staff excluded)

I don't think most Mages really understand how much mitigation they get from an extra 1000 armor... do you guys only care about big numbers?

Nothing wrong with extra armor, but the fact thats its pretty much the only upgrade our set got is a little stupid.

What does an armor upgrade do against magic damage? Teams which are on the rise right now.

Keep up the blogs. Enjoy them very much.

ps. To clarify the difference.

From season 1 armor set to season 2 armor set, the difference is as follows:

armor +997
stam +6
int -4
crit 0
hit 0
res +4
dmg +17

include the staff from s1 to s2, you get:

armor +997
stam +13
int +3
crit +6
hit +3
res +8
dmg +43

Here is what Warlocks get (just the set, without staff or other pretty pieces):
+997 armor
+29 stamina
-16 intellect
+4 spell crit rating
+9 resilience
+23 spell damage

The other Warlock set:
+997 armor
+36 stamina
-8 intellect
+6 resilience
+1 hit rating
+24 spell damage

Mage:
armor +997
stam +6
int -4
crit 0
hit 0
res +4
dmg +17

I was going to get a glad staff early on, after seeing the huge armor upgrade I think I'll work on the armor pieces for the time being.

Yeah... Mages did kinda' get screwed in comparison to Warlocks actually.
